Depending on age this gear can show wear and make extra noise So why not replace it now that you have the engine out when doing cam seals and timing belt. The success of your project depends on what maintenance parts you replace. If you had a non VVTi engine you would be replacing the stock ugly gears with a nice shiny one Well this is the new shiny one now :) This gear will fit all JZ engines that use VVT
